TI 2015: SEA qualifier results

The Asian qualifiers for TI5 ended today at about 11 CET and 2 teams from the same organisation, Korea, Republic of MVP HOT6ix and Korea, Republic of MVP Phoenix, won the trip to the USA to The International 2015.

Overall, this qualifier was an interesting one. Spectacularity of some games was inexpressible. Teams were not playing passive Dota, instead they were constantly trying to put up a fight and try strength against each other. As a result, after the group stage these 4 teams have made it to the play-off: Philippines TnC GamingPhilippines RaveKorea, Republic of MVP HOT6ix and Korea, Republic of MVP Phoenix.

For two days two teams from both Korea, Republic of Korea and Philippines Philippines were fighting for two tickets to United States Seattle. In an uneven fight the Koreans came first.

Now, “phoenixes” and “hot 6” had to decide on who will become the main participant of The International 2015, and who will have struggle once again in the Wild Card Challenge. Surprisingly enough, this standoff was exciting just like the previous one. Not a single minute without fights, which became a beautification of the Asian qualifiers.

This map went as directed by Korea, Republic of MVP HOT6ix. From the beginning this team was applying pressure on the opponent and did not give a chance to them. With each minute “hot 6’s” domination was increasing significantly. Such a snowball could not have been stopped and Korea, Republic of MVP Phoenix had no other choice than to gg out at minute 15.

The start of the next map was no that dynamic. First blood at 7:44 pretty much proves it. Overall, early game was won by HOT6ix. First real fight 5 vs 5 took place at 15 minute mark. Trading 5 for 4 in favor of HOT6ix only asserted their dominance. It is worth mentioning that Weaver Weaver used his buyback and returned to the fight with Time Lapse Time Lapse, which totally payed off. At 17:40 Hot went to take down Roshan, and Phoenix tried to contest it. They did not come to the pit in time however and lost two heroes, worsening their situation even more. At the 21 minute mark the leading team started sieging highground. One would think that Tinker Tinker with his March of the Machines March of the Machines would not let anyone pass, however, same old Weaver Weaver with desolator under  Omniknight Omniknight’s Purification Repel and insane amounts of heal was biting off huge pieces of towers with each hit. Leaving tower low, pushers fell back only to continue the siege in 3 minutes. "Phoenixes" tried to defend but were obliterated. The score was 24:16 at that moment, advancing HOT6ix’ victory. Another fight in their favour and they were able to claim free aegis. Next moment they were already finishing off midlane and bottom, while killing opponents one by one. At 32 minutes the score was 31:18 and HOT6ix only had to do a final push to the throne. Many useful skills and timed saves let the team win one last engagement and win forced their enemy to write double g’s.

The 3rd map started much like the previous one, with HOT6ix being on top. Firstblood on Earthshaker Earthshaker and the death of Dark Seer Dark Seer let them take the initiative, but on the 9th minute they lost three heroes, having overestimated their power. This was an alarm bell for the leading team. Still, at 15-minute mark MVP Phoenix lost their first lane of rax, making Broodmother Broodmother feel herself free. Push from HOT6ix continued. Going for tier 2 mid and winning a fight 4 to 2 made it even better for HOT6ix. However, this was the last good move of "the six". On the 22nd minute "phoenixes" caught their opponents off guard and killed 4 of them, clearing the way to Roshan. HOT6ix did not want to give Roshan away and managed to beat off their opponent, sacrificing Lina Lina and one buyback. They then tried to finish Rosh, but MVP Phoenix were ready. When Roshan was barely breathing, they jumped into the pit and eliminated 3 enemy heroes, took the aegis and set the score at 18:11 in their favour. This was a game changer. MVP Phoenix decided not to stop and on the 28th minute were knocking at their opponent’s door. Only split push from Broodmother Broodmother forced them to go back and defend from time to time. At the 32-minute mark, however, they breached the defensive line. Two lanes down and with no buybacks, HOT6ix could only hope for a miracle, which did not come. Repeated series of kills and elimination of the last lane brought 1 point and a glimmer of hope to "phoenixes".

The fourth game of the series started with both teams being rather active. 15 seconds before the creep spawn, "phoenixes" could have made a first blood, but deny from Pugna Pugna stopped them in their tracks. Actual first blood happened at 3:38 on the very Pugna Pugna. Endless ganks and trades let the score to 7:4 in favour of MVP Phoenix. They were putting pressure on "the six’ " towers, who in turn tried to split push with Leshrac Leshrac and Shadow Demon Shadow Demon. It seemed like this one will also go to "phoenixes". However, they overestimated themselves and dove too deep into the enemy lines. At 20:45 a fight took place, where Leshrac Leshrac was killing one after the other, which ended in 4 to 2 trade in favour of HOT6ix. Despite the score, the game notably tilted to the side of HOT6ixMVP Phoenix  then decided to smoke gank mid, all to no avail. Even though they killed Leshrac Leshrac instantly, a handful of bloodstone charges allowed him to return into the fight and make 3 kills, drawing the score. Free Roshan opened up a path to the enemy’s highground, which HOT6ix were sure to use. On the 31st minute phoenixes lost their bottom lane and misused their abilities, allowing enemy to make a series of kills. HOT6ix did not smother their victory and destroyed midlane at the 34 minute mark, while making a couple of frags. Switching to the last lane left no chances for "phoenixes" and they called it gg, sending their colleagues straight to The International 2015. In turn, MVP Phoenix still have a chance to play in the main event of the year, but they will have to fight for the Wild Card in Seattle.

I think it's more appropriate to call this Southeast Asian qualifiers.
