Today, Natus Vincere have faced off against another CIS squad - Vega Squadron in the semi-finals of BTS EU. In the Bo3 series, both teams showed what they can do. There can only be 1 winner, though, and this time, it was Natus Vincere who have defeated their opponent 2-1. Let's see how it went.
emerged victorious in game 1. We had a good start, taking first blood along with another kill near top rune. After that, the game became more uneven as both teams were finding their pickoffs and tradeoffs all over the map; it is impossible to say that either team was getting a significant lead. What is important, though, was the farming game from Na`Vi -
Sand King held the top position in net worth chart, and he was making the best of it by picking off Vega
’s heroes one by one thanks to global presence of his teammates - Dendi
Zeus and Ditya Ra
Spectre. Spectre also deserves a special mention - a skirmish near bottom Tier 1 tower of Na`Vi, and a second one, 2 minutes later, gave us a significant gold and experience boost that allowed everyone, especially Spectre, to get much-needed items and snowball. One of the game’s highlights was
Sand King’s outstanding initiation near Vega’s mid Tier 1 that resulted in 5 deaths, one being a dieback on
Queen of Pain. More pickoffs followed, but our attempt to take Roshan from Vega’s grasp ended unsuccessfully as Vega’s
Gyrocopter took the Aegis. Still, the game continued in its past pace - pickoffs, mostly by Na`Vi
, allowed us to amass more items and wait out Aegis. The final fight in our jungle resulted a double and a triple kill - an ultimate team wipe that forced GG from the opponent.
Game 2 went to the side of Vega
Squadron. This game was not as eventful for Na`Vi as game 1. First Blood was claimed by Vega’s
Zeus in the midlane. The start of the game, thus, was bit rough for Na`Vi as the opponent was making some rotations and getting pickoffs. Our team was trying to do the same, sometimes successfully, other times - not so much. Sonneiko
has demonstrated some outstanding plays as
Witch Doctor; Dendi
, on his
Puck, was finding some very good Dream Coils. A particularly successful high ground defence by Natus Vincere
has seriously damaged Vega’s position, but ultimately, not seriously enough to make a comeback. Thus, another high ground defence was not something we could handle.
First blood went the way of Vega - Sonneiko
Pudge has overextended at the bottom rune, and got punished for it. It is worth mentioning that despite Pudge is typically Dendi’s hero, this time, Dendi
went for another signature hero of his -
Templar Assassin, handing the Pudge over to Sonneiko. The start of the game was not particularly eventful, kills were not as plentiful as in the previous games. This all was compensated for, however, as Ditya Ra
snagged an ultra kill minute 12 - needless to say, this has boosted him a lot; those kills, though, were made possible by a spectacular setup from
Earthshaker- a Fissure into 4-man Echo Slam made a huge work. Slowly but surely, Na`Vi
got the lead they seemed to have lost. A while after, a Roshan skirmish has occured - despite leaving Roshan alive(only for so long), Na`Vi claimed victory in that teamfight. Later, Aegis was claimed by
Ember Spirit. Minute 38 gave us yet another huge teamfight - despite losing Aegis, we have made a much-needed team wipe.
The situation has seemingly stabilized for a little bit, and then there was a tremendously important pick by Natus Vincere
Juggernaut was the one to fall. This has encouraged Na`Vi to go for some more aggressive moves that yielded their fruits. Minute 50 was yet another fascinating teamfight - neither team was willing to give up, and finally, top barracks fell on the side of Vega Squadron
. After that, it was only a matter of time when we have destroyed all the barracks, spawning Mega Creeps. However, the game went on, and more pickoffs were found for both sides, more items were purchased - by the end of the game, Ember Spirit had 3 Rapiers on him simultaneously. But all has to come to its end. In a final push onto the high ground, the throne of Vega stood exposed. Na`Vi went for an initiation into their opponent - Pudge blinked behind the enemy lines onto
Tusk, and disabled him so that no one would escape into his snowball - turning the fight into a 4 vs 4. Vega’s heroes crumbled, bought back only to be killed straight away. With no means to defend the throne, there were no options but one for the opponent - GG. It means that Na`Vi are moving on to the Grand Finals of BTS EU.
Today’s games, particularly the final one, have shown that Na`Vi
’s fighting spirit is strong, and they are fully capable to make spectacular plays few can dream to achieve! Congratulations to our Dota 2 squad for this breathtaking victory, and wish them all the best as they are going to battle it out for the 1st
