CS:GO turns 3 years!
ESL One Cologne 2015 goes on and all the CS:GO community is following the event with much attention. However, we shouldn't forget what a prominent day is today! On 21 August 2015 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive turns three years! Over the past time, CS:GO has turned from an ambitious successor of the legendary CS 1.6 into a mighty monster of eSports arena. Dozens of major tournaments and hundreds of small tournaments have been conducted, millions of dollars have been granted as prize pools and uncountable number of rounds and maps have been played.
Just to remind you: 21 August 2012 the game was officially released. Both players and critics welcomed the game in a cold manner. Most users complained that the game was underdevelopped and raw. They also accused the creators of improper transfer of CS 1.6 game mechanics. After a series of patches CS:GO has turned from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan and managed to establish as one of the major eSports disciplines in the world. The first grand CS:GO tournament was played at Dreamhack Winter 2013. Similar tournaments were later held in German city of Cologne and Polish city of Katowice. Over one million viewers watched the final of ESL One. The current ESL One Cologne 2015 must attract even more viewers!
