Dota 2 news weekly

Dota 2 fans from all over the world are now focused on the main event of the Fall - The Frankfurt Major, organized by Valve. There's not much news apart from that, but we still tried to mentioned the most interesting events in the world of our favourite game.

The Frankfurt Major begins!

No other event of the past week was more important for true Dota 2 fan than the beginning of The Frankfurt Major. The prize pool of the tournament is $ 3 000 000, which equals the sum of the prize pools of the first and the second The International. The competition has already brought many surprizes. First is the last place of Sweden Alliance, which was considered to be one of the tournament's favorites before the beginning of the event. Second is Philippines Mineski getting to the upper brackets of the group stage. And there're still 5 more days of exciting surprises ahead!

Update of 12 November

Straight before the beginning of the tournament 1GB update was released. To much disappointment of the players, neither new hero, nor the awards (promised at The International 2015) have been added. On the other hand many bugs have been fixed, so it's much more pleasant to play now. Read the list of the changes on the official website of the game.

The last Treasure of the Major

This Treasure is the main reason for such large update. Fluttering cache is related to The Frankfurt Major. It can only be purchased by the owners of the Fall Compendium. Cosmetic items there were put into question: many players didn't like that the appearance of Gyrocopter Gyrocopter is too different from the standard one, while Crystal Maiden Crystal Maiden turned into brunette from blonde. Anyway, these works will have their fan base. You are most welcome to take a look at all the sets in our article.

The chance to get such courier is extremely rare

Dota 2 in South Korea will be available only via Steam

This news seems to have little to do with European region. However, it will influence Dota 2 in general. Now users from South Korea don't have to use Nexon servers to play their favourite game. All the matches will be played via Steam. "Dear Valve, maybe at least now all those exclusive cosmetic items from Korean servers will get to the global public access?" - that's what many users are now thinking. Knowing Valve, they'd rather remove those items from Korean accounts. We think, it's a matter of copyright. As you know, Nexon company was in charge not only of eSports and servers in the region, it was also responsible for providing unique content. Depending on who possesses the copyright to this content, it will be either retained or removed. Furthermore, even in case Valve does have copyright, it might just be reluctant to provide it to other.

The players of International Team Liquid, despite not having got to The Frankfurt Major, didn't lose their hearts and continued their eSports career as a team. They achieved victory in Dota 2 Champions League, having defeated Russian Federation Team Empire in the final match.

NiP disbands Dota 2 squad

That's the saddest news of the week for the pro scene of Dota 2. Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas decided to disband their Dota 2 roster due to the failure to achieve the goals set. The organization decided to focus on CS:GO.

Perhaps the main reason for such decision was the the defeat at the European qualifiers of The Frankfurt Major in a match against Sweden Alliance. Despite they had fair chances to win the game, Sweden NiP players made a number of mistakes, which enabled enemy Alchemist Alchemist to gain power. As a result, they lost and didn't get the slot at LAN. Furthermore, the team decided not to participate in 13th season of StarLadder.

The former squad of Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas:

  • Sweden Adrian "Era" Kryeziu
  • Sweden Linus "Limmp" Blomdin
  • Sweden Jonas "jonassomfan" Lindholm
  • Sweden Elias "Sealkid" Merta
  • Sweden Simon "Handsken" Haag
