ESL One Cologne group stage


ESL One Cologne 2015 organizers announced the draw for the group stage of the most awaited tournament of the year. Ukraine Natus Vincere’s group consists of the strongest Swedish and Polish teams. Soon, they will come to Cologne to prove that they deserve to win the title of the champion and $ 250 000 prize money. 


The first part of the group stage will take place on August 20 in ESL TV studio. There will be 4 groups of 4 teams each (2 invited teams + 2 qualified teams from Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania). We already know a few participants that went through European qualifiers: International KinguinUkraine Flipsid3Poland Team eBettleFrance Titan. In North Amercian qualifier, United States Cloud9United States Team LiquidUnited States Tempo Storm and many other teams competed for the remaining 2 slots.

The finals in Germany will be played in BO1 double-elimination format. Thevbest-placed team of each group will advance to quarterfinals. The groups will be redrawn after the first day, so in the second part teams will compete with the new opponents. Besides, teams that failed to get to the semi-finals will get a second chance on the next day.


ESL One Cologne schedule:

  • North American qualifier — 1–2 August

  • Group stage part 1 — August 20, 10.00–23.00 CEST

  • Group stage part 2 —August 21 10:00–23:00 CEST

  • Quarterfinals at Lanxess Arena — August 22, 12:00–22:30 CEST

  • Semifinal and grand-final at Lanxess Arena — August 23 12:00–22:30 CEST

We would like to remind you that ESL One 2015 will be held in Cologne, including offline group stage in ESL TV Studio (20-21 August) and the play-offs at the huge stadium that features 20 000 seats. It is one of the main tournaments of the year, supported by Valve and esports organization ESL.
