IEM San Jose: Draw results

Intel Extreme Masters San Jose organizers revealed the results of group stage draw and presented the scheme according to which a $ 100 000 competition will be conducted. UkraineNa`Vi has been seeded as one of the stronger teams, and will encounter BrazilLuminosity in the first round.

Competition in San Jose won’t feature a conventional group stage. All teams will play in a single elimination bo3 format, and one loss will be enough to drop out of the tournament and spend the rest of the time sightseeing and watching matches of other teams. The reason for such an unusual format wasn’t explained, but most probably this system was chosen because of the lack of time. The tournament will run for only two days, on 21–22 November. Extreme Masters San Jose will also feature a League of Legends competition.

Overall, the seeding resembles the one that could be seen in the playoff stage of the last week’s competition in Romania. Strong Brazilian team Luminosity will be the first challenge of our guys. Not so long ago we outplayed the Brazilians on de_dust2 and de_overpass. In a few weeks, we’ll see how everything will go this time.

Extreme Masters tournament series is of particular importance for our team, since it was  IEM 4 World Championship Finals where the history of such Na`Vi players as Ukraine ZeusUkraine EdwardUkraine starix, Ukraine ceh9 began. Back in 2010, after winning Extreme Masters gold, the team became known all around the world. They became the first CIS roster to conquer such a high peak. Now, after 4 years, Zeus and Edward are still playing in Na`Vi lineup, whereas starix occupied the position of a team coach. From then on, every Extreme Masters championship has meant more than many other competitions.

IEM CS:GO tournament will be held in indoor arena, often called “The Shark tank” by local sportsmen. It can seat around 17 000 viewers. As usual, the vast majority of all viewers will be American, since the purpose of this tournament is eSports popularization in the United States. Apart from CS:GO competition, the League of Legends tournament will also be conducted. All matches will be broadcasted, and the games of our team will be listed on NAVI.GG.
