Katowice: Prize pool to increase?


ESL announced their intention to increase the prize pool of the upcoming IEM Katowice 2016. The eSports tournaments organizer decided to engage a new source of money.


ESL's Vice-president for Pro Gaming Poland Michal "Carmac" Blicharz announced that the prize pool of the even in Katowice wll be over $450 000, $ 250 000 of it secured for CS:GO. Eventually the prize pool is expected to be increased due to community, similar to Dota 2 tournaments. No more information hasn't been provided so far. Thus, the prize pool of the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition might be the record breaker. 



Another explanation for such announcement is the lack of Valve's support of the event. Otherwise, there's a great chance that soon we'll see an unprecedented prize pool for CS:GO tournament!
