Main transfers of the month

The transfer window of CS:GO has no frames. Permanent reshuffles are natural, they serve to improve the performance quality of the rosters and to foster the progress of the scene. Learn more about the past reshuffles from the article.

Notwithstanding winter holidays, there were few influential transfers during December of 2015 and early January of 2016. Being a short break between seasons, this time of the year is most suitable for the reshuffles, which can substantially influence the balance of powers in global eSports. We've witnessed the renewal of Sweden NiP and United States Liquid, the final establishment of Denmark SK-gaming roster, as well as temporary stability of the "old-new" Denmark mTw. A new strong Finnish team was formed, and an experienced player of American scene returned to pro gaming.

Sweden Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi

After Finnish sniper Finland Aleksi "allu" Jalli had left the Ninjas, nobody knew what Sweden NiP would look like in 2016. However, it was obvious, that at least one player would join the team. Eventually, Sweden pyth was invited. He had spent 6 months playing on North American scene (in United States WinterFox and United States Luminosity). Now he got an opportunity to come back to his Motherland and play along with the CS:GO masters.

Quite predictable choice: NiP needed a player, craving to win (photo credits:, video credits: Mrtweeday)

A year ago, many analysts predicted that the player would achieve a lot on the "grand scene". He was a rising star, playing in SwedenOrbitSwedenSK-Gaming and Pyth's performance would often lead to unexpected and thrilling victories over more powerful rivals. He's a great shooter, aspired to win on the top level. This can fit perfectly in the roster with substantial pro gaming experience.

Current roster of Sweden NiP:

Sweden Richard "Xizt” Landström (c)
Sweden Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg
Sweden Christopher “GeT_RiGhT" Alesund
Sweden Adam "friberg" Friberg
Sweden Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi

  Ukraine Alexander "s1mple" Kostyliov

Ukrainian talent will continue his eSports career in the US. He'll become the fifth player of United States Liquid, which has been forming its new line-up for about a month now. Before inviting Ukraine s1mple, North American team invited former sniper of Sweden NiP — Finland Aleksi "allu" Jalli, who eventually refused to move to North America.

After two months break Alexander joins large organization again. Such transfer is very much alike the traditional sports with its multinational teams and transborder transfers. There's no doubt that many American teams will begin inviting players from Europe. Kostyliov is one of the first. He'll soon be able to participate in ESL events, as his ban finishes on 1 February.

Current roster of United States Team Liquid:

United States Spencer "Hiko" Martin
United States Nick "nitr0" Cannella
United States Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski
United States Eric “adreN” Hoag (c)
Ukraine Alexander "s1mple" Kostyliov

Denmark  Jacob «Pimp» Winneche

The reorganization of DenmarkSK-gaming CS:GO-squad has finnished with the announcement of acquisition of Denmark Pimp, who is equally skillful with both AWP and rifles. One month after leaving Denmark dignitas, Jacob accepted an offer to replace Denmark Casper "cadian" Møller, who now acts as substitute player. The newcomer being one of the most experienced players on the Dannish scene, the transfer can result in significant enforcement of Denmark SK.

Additionally, Sweden Andreas "MODDII" Fridh and Denmark Emil "Magiskb0Y" Reif, who had acted as temporary stand-ins, were announced to join the team on a permanent basis. The guys have already proved to be worthy of acquisition. Yesterday the team won the slot at DreamHack Leipzig 2016, which will be a field trial for the new roster.

The current line-up of Denmark SK-gaming:

  •  Denmark Asger "AcilioN" Larsen
  •  Denmark Michael "Friis" Jørgensen
  •  Denmark Jacob «Pimp» Winneche
  •  Denmark Emil "Magiskb0Y" Reif
  •  Sweden Andreas "MODDII" Fridh

Finland Aleksi "allu" Jalli and new line-up of Finland ENCE

A new attempt to increase the level of Finnish Counter-Strike is in the hands of Finland allu, who seems to be the most mentioned personality in this article. Though it had been suggested he'd join an international team, Aleksi became a player of the local team Finland ENCE.

Such decision is quite natural, since the line-up of the team seems to be strong and can compete on both local and international level. Finnish CS:GO community has waited long enough for a team to represent the country globally. Perhaps there wouldn't've been so many expectations, but for the reach history of Finnish Counter-Strike 1.6, created by Finland 69°N-28°E (later — Finland Team Roccat).

Current line-up of Finland ENCE:

  •  Finland Aleksi "allu" Jalli
  •  Finland Tom "stonde" Glad
  •  Finland Miikka "suNny" Kemppi
  •  Finland Juho "Juhob" Lampinen
  •  Finland Mikko "xartE" Välimaa

United States Danny "fRoD" Montaner

Great news about compLexity. One of the legendary North American eSports athelets comes back to active competitive gaming as a player of this team. United States Danny "fRoD" Montaner is one of the most recognizable figures in eSports. His career lasted for over 10 years at top level. Back in 2005-2006 the guy was one of the best players in Counter-Strike 1.6. He was an inalienable part of United States compLexity, which won ESWC 2005 и WSVG ISC 2006

In 2010 Montaner took 14th place in hltv's CS 1.6 global ranking. He played in United States Evil Geniuses at the time. The team was the best in its region and could compete with European teams.

It might be fRoD, who will help create powerful CS:GO in North America

As a reminder, Montaner used to play CS:GO in 2013. Being a player of United States cuLtivaion, he performed successfully in ESEA Season 14. Afterwards, Danny disappeared from the eSports. Recent poor achievements of United States compLexity resulted in major reorganization of the line-up. The management made decision to build the new team basing on United States fRoD. The names of the remaining players of United States coL will be communicated later. As per moment, we have information, that the team would welcome United States Daniel "roca" Gustaferri, who used to play in United States compLexity.

Current possible squad of United States compLexity:

  •  United States Danny "fRoD" Montaner
  •  United States Daniel "roca" Gustaferri

 Incomplete revival of DenmarkmTw

Previously we wrote that three player of one of the most successful teams in the history of Counter-Strike 1.6 got back to eSports. These are: DenmarkChristoffer "Sunde" Sunde, Denmark Oliver «minet» Minet, Denmark Alexander «ave» Holdt. Last month the two more players were announed to join DenmarkMortal Team Work. Unfortunately, the line-up didn't exist for more than 2 weeks.

The full squad of mTw didn't make come back to CS:GO

Recently the team engaged other players: Denmark Martin "trace" Bang Heldt and Denmark Danny "zonic" Sørensen. Note that Denmark trace used to play previous versions of CS:GO. In 2012 it seemed he'd keep in the game for a long time. However. after a streak of poor results he decided to end his gaming career. As concerns Denmark zonic, he's been active for quite a while trying to get back to pro gaming. It seems he's extra-motivated now, as his teammates claim they'd be training hard to achieve good results.

Main achievements of mTw in Counter-Strike 1.6 (

A couple of days ago, it was informed that Denmark zonic wasn't going to play at Denmark mTw. Instead, he'll act as a coach of the elite Danish five Denmarkquestionmark (ex-TSM). By the way, last summer Danny coached Denmark dignitas. How did his refusal influence the other members of mTw and who will be invited to replace him? We'll see in time.

Current roster of Denmark mTw:

Denmark Christoffer "Sunde" Sunde

Denmark Oliver «minet» Minet

Denmark Alexander «ave» Holdt

Denmark Martin "trace" Bang Heldt

Short summary

The management and the players of Sweden NiP made an expected decision to keep the core of the team and to engage an ambitious confident player, who can strengthen the team. 2015 wasn't successful for the Swedes: the lack of motivation and the decrease of the shape of some players was obvious. The "refreshment" of the roster usually inspires a team, which can result in victories. The most important thing is to keep the mood.

How will NiP play in 2016?

The transfer of Ukraine s1mple to one of the best North American team might be a step forward to both the Ukrainian player and United States Liquid. There's no doubt Kostyliov is one of the most talented young players. However, he's got uneasy temper. If Alexander manages to keep calm and play on, he'll be able to become a guiding star of the team.

The attempt of Finland allu to return Funnish CS:GO to global arena is a worthy deed. Finland has many powerful players, who don't perform much outside of online tournaments. The current Finland ENCE is an attempt to collect the most powerful players of the country in one team.

The return of CS 1.6 legends is ambiguous. One the one hand, the previous experience and glory might help them to develop their skill in new game. On the other hand, none of the "comebackers" has shown fair results yet. Obviously, they have a substantial credit of trust, but they shouldn't disdain it.
