Russia at CS World Championships

After the article dedicated to the Ukrainian team performance at world championships, we decided to prepare similar interesting statistics about the Russian national team. Let's recall its ups and downs as well as the results of all tournaments starting from ENC Season 2010. Apart from all above-mentioned, we will tell you more about the performance of the Russian team at World Championships 2015 and all matches that have already been played.

ESL ENC Season 2010

In 2010, the Russian players managed to show quite solid results, especially in a group stage. They have reached the final part without a single loss, beating strong teams from Germany, France, Turkey and Denmark. Despite the fact that overall the team consisted of twelve players, the majority of the matches were played with the following lineup: Dmitriy «Hooch» Bogdanov, Roman «ROMJkE» Makarov, Eduard «ed1k» Ivanov, Mikhail «Dosia» Stolyarov and Sergey «Fox» Stolyarov.

Therefore, Sweden took first place, Ukraine finished second, Denmark was third and Russia secured fourth place. By the way, the Russian team was represented not only by the male lineup, but also the girl team that managed to outplay the Germans with a 2:1 score and won the tournament.

In the playoff the Russians have lost 1:2 to the Danes (future champions of that tournament), and were eliminated from the competition.

ESEC 2014

In 2014, the participation of Russian national team began from the group stage. Experienced player Dmitryi «Hooch» Bogdanov was traditionally chosen to be a captain. The guys have shown quite a solid level of play, losing only once against the Danish team, the previous year's champions. The viewers could witness impressive clashes against the Great Britain, Slovakia, Latvia and Macedonia, where Russians won without any problems.

This time, those were the French players, after losing to which the Russian team was eliminated from the tournament. So, the French team has won, followed by the Poles and the Swedes. It is peculiar that the Polish team had been invited by the tournament organizers instead of the Danish players who couldn’t attend the LAN-finals.

The World Championships 2015

In 2015, Electronic Sports European Championship was renamed to The World Championships, since the tournament organizers from E-Frag decided to invite the players from all around the world, not only Europe. Moreover, the prize pool has been considerably increased and now reaches $ 100 000. The tournament kicked off on 10 August 2015. The Russian lineup included such players as Dmitryi «Hooch» Bogdanov (IGL), Nikolay «latro» Li, Еgor «flamie» Vasilyev, Mikhail «Dosia» Stolyarov, Georgiy «WorldEdit» Yaskin and Denis «seized» Кostin. For now, the Russian team has played only two matches against Finland and Turkey, taking the victory over the first one and losing to the second. In the future they will have to play against Slovakia, Germany and the Great Britain.
