SLTV 5 (CS:GO): Preview

We would like to present you a preview for the upcoming tournament in Kiev - SLTV Season 5. We've seen Natus Vincere, ESC Gaming, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Virtus.pro at Techlabs in Moscow, CPH Games in Denmark and now we're going to see them at SLTV 5 finals in Kiev. It may seem like a perfect opportunity to work on the game, dynamically improve to surprise others. As for now, the best job is done by (surprise!) NiP, a little bit less - by Virtus.pro.

Despite Natus Vincere having won over NiP online (which proved to be quite irrelevant at LAN during Techlabs) and taken over fnatic at Copenhagen, they lost a match against team Epsilon at CPH Games. You already know how the story unfolded with our team pulling out of the tournament. The opponents, in their turn, kept on progressing in the game, because one can only get much better by playing versus stronger teams in the official matches. This can provide a real confidence boost for the other teams.

Statistics:

Team Wins/Ties/Losses

image ESC  70 / 3 / 36
image Virtus.pro 38 / 1 / 22
image Na`Vi 23 / 1 / 18

As you can see, the Swedes have already set the unique record which will be really hard to beat in the future. Also, NiP have quite mpressive statistics in maps won at different LAN-tournaments. It's 85-0, guys. They've played 85 maps and haven't lost a single one of them! Three losses online couldn't be really considered as defeats since they took place over the Internet.

Now, it's time for some extended stats:

Here we can see the statistics for maps won, lost and tied, as well as the percentages for pistol rounds won. There can hardly be any arguments against the fact that the pistol rounds are fundamental for a good start of the match and higher chance to win the map. Compare these numbers for each team and make your own conclusion.

Draw

A couple of days prior to the tournament, the organizers published tourney's brackets. We will see matches in a Double Elimination format. Na`Vi will meet VIrtus.pro in the first quarterfinal. These teams faced each other only twice - both times online in the group stage of SLTV. Both times Na`Vi lost (16-3, 16-12). As mentioned above, VP gained their shape thanks to the tournament in Denmark, so they're going to be the favorite in this match.

The second quarterfinal will see ESC Gaming versus NiP. They met each other nine times in the past. The Poles managed to claim the victory only once out of those nine games, losing the other eight.
