Should Valve release patches more often?

Dota 2 recently underwent substantial changes: Reborn became the main game client, while "old Dota 2' sank into oblivion. Surely it was impossible to spot all the bags during 3 months of the game's Reborn life. Yesterday a new patch was released. It fixed all the mistakes, which had been found. We will face many new patches in the nearest future.

Such activity reminds us of the era of the firs Dota. However, at the time so many releases of patches were due to other reasons. Let's get back to 2011. Version 6.72 was released on 27 April 2011, introducing substantial changes into the game balance. Some heroes became weaker, while others became more powerful. The prices and features of come items were revised. It was then, when  Veil of Discord was introduced into the game, though it was gathered in a very different way.

Veil of Discord:

Helm of Iron Will (950)
2x Robe of the Magi (450)

Big patches aren't rare. They enjoyed beautiful names: "Spring Cleaning" (23 April), "The Rekindling Soul Update!" (25 September), "Nemesis Assassin Event" (20 November), "New Bloom Festival 2015" (12 February). The last update, which influenced the balance, was released on 30 April, which means that 4 months has passed since then. New meta managed to establish in the game. The heroes like Leshrac Leshrac and Tusk Tusk are picked practically for each match. They became popular for various reasons.

Leshrac Leshrac and Tusk Tusk were significantly strengthened by the patch of 30 April. The developers improved their abilities, and introduced new items. Many people know how good Octarine Core and Glimmer Cape look on Leshrac Leshrac. Another pair of heroes are Lina Lina and Phantom Lancer Phantom Lancer. Successful play on Lina Lina requires spending 2 850 gold for  Eul's Scepter of Divinity. This sum is fast to earn, especially on mid lane. The hero becomes extremely powerful and kill almost any hero with a combo of her abilities. Though carry can survive, weaker heroes suffer from encountering her till the end of the game. As concerns Phantom Lancer Phantom Lancer, the hero has great stats, and can avoid practically any gank due to   Doppelganger. If the rival team hasn't got sufficient quantity of stuns, Phantom Lancer Phantom Lancer is almost invulnerable. He's one of the best for the long game, so its popularity is natural.

Leshrac is strong on the Dota 2 pro scene

Meta impacts rating games too, when many players are trying to increase their rating. Surely, it's easier to do, when you have above-mentioned heroes in your team. It causes absurd situations sometimes. For example, your allies can be very disappointed, if you try to take easy lane on Terrorblade Terrorblade, instead of Phantom Lancer Phantom Lancer. Almost everyone hates playing against Lina Lina amd Leshrac Leshrac. If you don't want to play against them, take these heroes or ask your ally to do it. Therefore, you have to pick those heroes, which results in their high popularity.

Playing against them all the time is annoying. Diversity is what we need. Most likely these heroes will be weakened in the next balance-changing patch. Though, it's unclear when it will be released. Probably it'll happen before the first Major. The date of the new patch depends only on Valve. All we have to do is to wait for it and invent new ways to struggle annoying heroes.

Ok. back to 6.72, which we mentioned above intentionally. One week after its release, IceFrog released 6.72b, in which Treant Protector Treant Protector was weakened (it had been strengthened before). In one month, community saw 6.72c — the patch, which changed the game's balance. 22 heroes underwent changes in this patch. 6.72f was released in 1,5 months later, with 19 being changed. Spirit Breaker Spirit Breaker and Lycan Lycan were weakened the most. Before that, they'd been picked almost in every match.

This is pretty much alike to what is now happening, isn't it? Isn't it hgh time to change Leshrac Leshrac, Tusk Tusk and other heroes in Dota 2 right now? All the more IceFrog has done it before.

What do you think? Should the patches, which influence game balance be issued once per 6 months? Or should it be done more often (as it used to be in the first Dota)? Leave your comments!
